What is Earthwool®
All Agra-Wool products are made from Earthwool®.
Earthwool® is a natural product made from volcanic solidification rock (coagulation of lava) Basalt. The "healthy" fibres are made by heating and spinning this rock. In addition, our stone wool is made with a natural binder (Ecose®), free of acetylates and formaldehyde. This makes it a much more accessible substrate for the roots compared to "normal" stone wool and allows plants to make more use of the available volume.
When composing the binder, Petrochemical raw materials make way for vegetable raw materials.
During the production of Ecose® binder, 70 percent less energy is required compared to using traditional binders.
Using a patented process, the renewable raw materials are converted into an exceptionally strong binder. This means that stone wool based on Ecose® Technology is noticeably softer and spreads no odour or dust. Hence the recognizable brown color. This stone wool is also safer for humans and environment. It does not irritate the hands and skin and is therefore pleasant to process.
Advantages of our stone wool compared to regular yellow wool are:
Better root control
Excellent growth performance
Better for the environment
No skin irritation
More resistant against diseases and pests
